Hello, I’m happy you’re here! I’m Laura and I started this blog as a way to chronicle my attempts to live a healthier, happier and simpler life.
Though I dream of living on a hundred acre farm with horses and chickens and a huge organic garden, my reality (for now, at least!) is living in downtown Toronto in a tiny condo with my husband and our two zany cats. But that doesn’t mean I’m not a homesteader at heart! If you came over to my place right now, you might smell a sourdough loaf baking in the oven or a pot of vegetable broth simmering on the stove. You might find me measuring out oils for hondmade beauty products or infused vinegars for non-toxic cleaning spray. Or I might be out on the balcony tending to my herb and veggie garden or sanding down some reclaimed wood for a diy bookshelf project. My mission is to cook delicious food from real ingredients, to make instead of buy, and to reduce waste and repurpose what’s old. In short, to live intentionally, sustainably and happily within my means.
This Life Handmade is my journey toward small-space urban homesteading, with all of the sweet successes and spectacular kitchen messes along the way.
I look forward to sharing it with you, and to learning from you! Please drop me a line in the comments or on twitter.
Peace and patchouli from the Big Smoke.
